This is so easy. Kobe. Hands down. Kobe is a scorer, Lebron is a facilitator.

It's like asking who would win, Magic or Mike?

this is silly, the reason he plays this role is by choice, he knows being a facilitator in their offense is going to make them so much better with wade and bosh

lebron can easily be a scorer on his own if he chose to be leading fucking cleveland to the finals by himself essentially, plus the fact that kobe wouldnt be able to play defense on lebron in a 1 on 1, thats just funny

not that this even matters at all since it probably will never even happen

Yes a guy that is 9x NBA All-defensive first team wouldn't be able to guard Lebron

lol.

Role by choice? No that is what he does. That is what he has always done. He isn't a scorer. Can he score? yes. Can he score more efficiently than Kobe? Maybe. Is he a better scorer? No.

I never said Lebron couldn't be a scorer, but it isn't in his nature. He doesn't have that ball hog going to take every shot attitude. He distributes the ball.

“I’d win, I’d win,” Kobe said. “That’s what I do. One on one is..that’s easy for me, you know. Playing 1-on-1 is how I grew up playing, it’s like my thing. LeBron is more like a Magic Johnson — he’s a great passer and plays an all around game. At the core of me, I’m a 1-on-1 player. I’d do that in my sleep.”

Now obvious bias (as Lebron picked himself and this video is a response to that)

But he isn't wrong. Hell I think Kobe could post up Lebron. Kobe's post game is better.

But like you said it'll probably never happen.

Being "fast" really doesn't help much in a 1v1. Lebron is "fast" in the sense that he is the person that can go baseline to baseline the quickest. That's what people talk about. That's irrelevant in a 1v1.

Being bigger and younger aren't prereqs to winning a 1v1. Being a better scorer and 1v1 player are. Kobe is both.

theres not 1 person in the nba right now who can guard lebron 1 on 1 on the court and legitimately have a shot at shutting him down

lebron is averaging more points a game this year than kobe while being a facilitator, hes going to have a different mindset going into a 1 on 1 obviously than he would in a team game, hes going to take the role of being a scorer. lebron is also much more efficient overall at scoring when he chooses to

and hopefully you can admit to the fact that lebron is a better ATHLETE than kobe has ever been at any point in his career which i think is probably a huge factor going into a 1 on 1 like this

If you are talking about being an athlete, Lebron is a better athlete than Jordan,

would Lebron beat Jordan in a 1v1?

lmao not even close

edit: Thread made no mention of current kobe vs current lebron. I was taking Kobe at his peak vs Lebron playing his best

What you dont understand is no one in the nba can just guard a ball handler or a guard . There is so much help defense . Lebron couldnt guard most of the players that are on the bench that you never hear of , neither can kobe .

If you dont play basketball i dont expect you to know this

And kobe is the best scorer ever in my eyes , its like humanly impossible to stop kobe from scoring

blade you can post screenshots of you beating people like louie in 1v1s as much as you want (seriosly with your sound, set up, and stopwatch you shouldnt lose a 1v1) but it doesnt change the fact that he is 20x the player you are.

Kobe's 35.4 PPG season > any of Lebrons
irrelevant stat - that season kobe took 5 more shots per game than lebron has in any season, 27.2

Lmao I don't get how that's irrelevant, but okay. If anything is irrelevant, it's the fact that you are comparing Kobe and Lebron by how they play NOW when clearly there is an age factor in there. Kobe relies on fundamentals and pure shooting to succeed. Lebron relies on toughness and athleticism. Attributes that always diminish when a player gets older. As Lebron's career begins to wind down towards retirement, he's gonna be nothing but a role player.

do you even know what you're talking about?

LeBron isn't going to be a role player unless he has a catastrophic injury. he's the best since Jordan. LeBron could lead the league in scoring every year easy, it's not the smart thing for him to do, but he could do it. You're pretty much blinded by hate if you think otherwise. 09 and 13 LeBron are both better than Kobe has ever been, and that includes Kobe's 35 ppg season. No one should honestly give a shit about a 1v1 basketball game, because there isn't a professional league for it, and teams don't play one on one.

kobe has more rings, pretty sure all other stats dont matter in the nba.

kobe will also win in 1v1.
